M826A1 VARIABLE ROLE RIFLE
Description
The M826A1 is the standard-issue rifle of Operation: Silent Fury. The 2"-thick barrel houses a focused infrared LED and the cosmetic barrel above it houses a white LED to simulate muzzle flash. It features selectable fire modes, Picatinny-type rails for mounting peripherals, fold-down/removeable iron sights. A backlit 4x16 LCD screen displays the player's vital statistics (i.e. Ammunition remaining in clip, total ammunition remaining, hit points remaining, number of deaths, number of kills, etc.) in a consolidated, easy-to-read format. The Carbine (pictured above) can also be reconfigured to serve as a Battle Rifle, a Light Support Weapon or Designated Marksman Rifle, each with unique operating characteristics (see chart). The molded plastic frame is also water and impact resistant.

Variants
Since the M826A1 can be reconfigured to serve as different weapons, the rifle itself can also be cosmetically modified to match its function, if so desired.
M826A1-BR Battle Rifle
The conversion from a Carbine to a Battle Rifle involves removing the rear iron sight and fold down front sight and installing a red-dot scope. The original barrel's flash supressor is removed and a thicker cosmetic barrel is screwed on over top (to simulate a Battle Rifle's heavier round) and a stubby vertical grip is installed on the front to provide more control.
M826A1-LSW Light Support Weapon
To convert the Carbine into a Light Support Weapon, remove the iron sights and replace them with a holographic reflex sight. Replace the original barrel with a thicker cosmetic barrel and install a folding bipod for added stability.
M826A1-DMR Designated Marksman Rifle
To convert the Carbine into a Designated Marksman Rifle, replace the iron sights with a rifle scope (in this case, a 3-9x32 model with adjustable magnification), and a special barrel that deactivates the barrel's "muzzle flash" LED to simulate a flash and sound suppressor. The addition of a folding bipod and removable cheek-rest completes the transformation.
Colour Schemes
In addition to changing out parts to customize the rifle, a different colour application can help to better blend the rifle in with its environment. Below are four sample digital disruption pattern colour schemes. From top to bottom they are: Subdued Urban, Temperate Woodland, Arid Desert and Arctic Tundra.
