The Simulated Munitions for Infrared Target
Engagement system is Operation: Silent Fury's own proprietary laser tag rig, and
is one of the many options which can be used for the exercise. It
is inspired by the MilesTag
protocol, but is redesigned from the ground up in order to incorporate features that
better suit the needs of Operation: Silent Fury.
FEATURES
- Infrared Tagging (The gun shoots an IR pulse
and sensors attached to the gun can receive hits)
- Sound Effects (The gun will make sounds when it
shoots, is hit, or the player is "killed")
- Simulated Muzzle Flash (A white LED in the
barrel will flash in time with the IR pulse)
- Simulated Recoil (The gun will vibrate when
the trigger is held)
- Variable Weapon Types (The gun can be
configured to function as either a carbine, a light support weapon or a
designated marksman rifle)
- Score Tracking (The gun will track the number
of kills and deaths its user amounts, as well as penalties such as 'friendly
fire')
- Data Tracking (The gun will track the amount
of health and ammo its user has remaining and will store these settings
until reset by a keyed master switch)
- Resupply (A set of specialized "black
boxes" will allow players to replenish their health and ammunition
levels)
- Water-Resistant Casing (The core electronics are sealed
in watertight compartments to protect the gun if it is accidentally
submerged)
- 360-Degree Hit Coverage (The gun can sense
hits from any direction via the head-mounted sensor "Halo" and
flash lights and play an audible alert noise accordingly to signal its
user's death)
- Default Power-Saving Mode (The gun runs in
passive mode to conserve batteries until the trigger is pressed or a hit is
detected)
- Multiple-Team Support (The gun can separate
users into different teams but 'friendly fire' applies and the user can
shoot and "kill" anybody)
- Self-Hit Prevention (The gun recognizes its
own shots so the player cannot be accidentidentally "killed" by IR
bounce)
- Full Duplex Capability (The gun can register
hits while shooting)
- PC Sync Capability (The gun can upload its
data to a PC for viewing and analysis)
